Coat Drive For Veterans In Need

Operation 'Care VeteransThe Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 542, in conjunction with Operation Care International and the Veteran Resource Center in Dallas and our drop off partner  Poor Richards Cafe in Plano,  is taking donations for Veterans in the Dallas area that are homeless or in need.

We need new winter coats, blankets, gloves, hats or other winter apparel.   All items collected will be distributed at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in downtown Dallas, Texas on Saturday, December 19 2020.

This annual event helps the homeless in North Texas. Since 2001, Operation Care International has held the “Christmas Gift for the Homeless” celebration to share the Spirit of Christ each December, serving tens of thousands in need with more than 3,000 caring volunteers in partnership with over 300 ministries, churches, businesses, and donors.

The Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 542, has pledged to help in the Veteran section of Operation Care International.

The donations we collect will go specifically to help the Veteran population of North Texas.  Last year almost a thousand Veterans came through the convention center.

Our goal this year is to have a new coat for every Veteran.  Your donation will be appreciated.

Volunteers are also needed to distribute the items on December 21 and to help coordinate the event.  You can find more information and volunteer at the Operation Care International Website.   If you want to specifically help in the Veterans area, follow the links. There are ample other areas that need volunteers as well.

Our drop off location this year is at Poor Richards Cafe 2442 K Ave, Plano, TX 75074 (972) 423-1524.  We thank the owners and staff for their generosity in helping with this great cause.

The deadline to drop off items is Tuesday, December 15.
